Parking remains a major issue in many parts of Rochester South and Horsted ward and where residential meets industrial there are added complications in ensuring that vehicular access is kept open and residents are not overly inconvenienced.
The access to Fort Horsted Business Centre (Rochester South and Horsted’s very own scheduled ancient monument – see our earlier story and photos of this fabulous hidden gem of a Napoleonic fort) is off Primrose Close and heavy plant and lorry traffic needs to be able to enter the site at certain times.

Fort Horsted Nursing Home (rated good by the CQC, another great facility in the ward) sits opposite the turning circle into the Fort entrance and a number of bungalows are sited at either end of the Close. Ward councillors held an onsite meeting with all affected parties to work out where the restrictions should be put in place such that it will work for everyone. Once agreement was reached, Highway officers duly installed the additional restrictions needed to resolve the issues in the Close.
