Development ‘Boom’ in Ward – infrastructure concerns
It was good news to see the announcement of a developer for Rochester Riverside after so many false starts. The addition of 1,300 new residencies, a new school, health centre and new businesses bringing much need employment is welcomed by everyone.
Other developments across our area will see Chatham Waters at the docksite, Saint Mary’s Island build out, the former Kitchener Barracks site and a number of key developments in Chatham delivered over the next 5 years bringing quality family housing to the ward.
We are working hard to ensure that better infrastructure funding is secured to support these developments and ensure pressure on getting around is reduced. Our efforts to support the re-opening of Medway Street or provide alternative traffic flows through Chatham have sadly not been successful.
