MOTORISTS will be required to slow down on Islingham Farm Road leading to Chattenden Primary School following the creation of a new 20mph zone.
The aim is to reduce vehicle speeds and to make it safer for children to walk to school.

Cllr. Peter Hicks said,

I am absolutely delighted that the Council has introduced this 20mph limit leading to the school”.

Cllr. John Williams said,

Motorists can help us make the roads around our schools safer places for pupils by cooperating with the new 20mph limit. Reducing your speed to 20mph will dramatically lessen the severity of an accident, should one occur, and I would urge all drivers to respect this new limit.”

Dark winter mornings and evenings can be a challenge, especially for our younger pupils, and I thank drivers in advance for their support in keeping our children and young people safe as they walk to school. Reducing your speed to 20mph when driving around schools means that you have a good chance of stopping if a child runs out in front of you – driving at 20mph could save a child’s life.”
