Road Safety Improvements, Highview Drive
An unfortunate by-product of the cycling corridor improvements along the stretch of Maidstone Road / Highview Drive at the Toys-R-Us roundabout following the widening of the footpath, which allowed bikes and pedestrians to more easily co-mingle on the southern side of the roundabout, was that vehicles began using it as a shortcut from Shirley Avenue.
We were alerted to this by local residents and arranged for the Road Safety team and Highways Engineers to attend and a central bollard was subsequently installed to stop this dangerous and thoughtless practice.
