Cllr Andrew Mackness
I was elected to represent River Ward in 2011 and 2015 and as one of your sitting councillors living locally in the ward, I am committed to challenge and ensure we are provided with the best services from our Council and other local service providers. I will continue to work towards improving standards across our community, and cutting out the bureaucracy of local government.
I am a local family man and business owner who understands and empathises with the pressures that challenge us all. Externally, my responsibilities include being Chairman of Chatham Maritime Trust and I am also the Portfolio Holder for Corporate Services at Medway Council and Chairman of the Medway Community Safety Partnership.
Outside of politics, my career started in retail with Marks and Spencer, leading to some years overseas in South Africa and Mauritius. On returning to the UK, I qualified as a commercial pilot, before returning to commerce with the purchase of a franchise cleaning company.
Cllr Habib Tejan
I am delighted to serve our communities. I always wanted to give something back; it is for this reason that I put myself forward in 2015. As an Elected Member, a family man and a company director, I understand the varied concerns we share and I am dedicated to finding solutions, whilst playing my part to ensure that Medway is an enjoyable and safe place to shop, work, live and play.
I am committed to advocating on our behalf, to ensure that we receive the service we deserve; one that delivers value for money.
I am a ‘doer’ and not a talker, who enjoys challenges. I have been representing our interests across the spectrum whilst serving on several committees on the Council; including Planning, Audit, Business Support Overview and Scrutiny, Regeneration Community and Culture Overview and Scrutiny, Kent & Medway Police & Crime Panel and Kent & Essex Insure Fishing & Conservation Authority.
I also serve on the Chatham Regeneration Board, Chatham Charities Trustees and Medway NHS Foundation Trust.
