Cliffe Woods Residents Voice Their Opposition

By Rochester & Strood Conservatives on

Local Councillors, in conjunction with the MP., received hundreds of objections from Cliffe Woods residents, to a proposed planning application for 227 new houses to be built locally. A public meeting on the 7th October was held to ensure that the views of residents was heard first hand.
The meeting was attended by both Parish and Medway councillors, along with the MP. Kelly Tolhurst. It was standing room only, with some 250 people squeezing into the hall, and many more outside. Loudspeakers were placed outside of the hall to ensure that everyone had the opportunity to hear what was being said. For the residents of Cliffe Woods, this meeting was a great success, as they had the opportunity to air their views and to seek support from their elected representatives.

Cllr. John Williams advised that he had already lodged a written objection with Medway Council’s Planning Department and went on to state, that his two colleagues, Cllr. Peter Hicks and Cllr. Gary Etheridge, were unable to comment at this stage as they both sit on the Planning Committee. However, it was his intention to continue to support Cliffe Woods residents and to continue to campaign against this proposed development.
